The Most Connected Country Artists in Music

Musicle Team ·

Country music has spent the last few years actively knocking down the fence around itself, pop features, hip-hop crossovers, a Beyoncé album, and it shows up clearly in Musicle's collaboration data. But the artist sitting at the top of the country hub list isn't who most casual fans would guess.

The most-connected country artists

Artist Credited collaborators
Jelly Roll 89
Keith Urban 63
Blake Shelton 59
HARDY 51
Thomas Rhett 45
Chris Stapleton 38
Carrie Underwood 33
Kane Brown 28
Luke Combs 24
Morgan Wallen 19
Zach Bryan 15
Dan + Shay 7

Jelly Roll, not Morgan Wallen

Wallen might be the bigger name commercially right now, but Jelly Roll is the more connected artist by a wide margin, 89 credits against Wallen's 19. Part of it is background: Jelly Roll spent over a decade in hip-hop and mixtape culture before country radio picked him up, and that earlier career left him with a much wider web of collaborators than most of his current genre peers ever built. He's also simply said yes to more genre-crossing features since going country, which keeps adding to the total.

Why the list skews toward "genre outsiders"

Look past Jelly Roll and the same pattern shows up again with HARDY, who sits fourth despite being a newer name than most of the artists below him. HARDY writes and produces across country, rock, and pop-leaning records, which means his collaborator list pulls from more directions than someone who's stayed strictly in one lane. Keith Urban and Blake Shelton land high too, but for a more boring reason: they've simply been working for decades, and decades compound.

Morgan Wallen and Zach Bryan sitting near the bottom isn't a knock on either artist. It mostly reflects a career built on solo albums and a smaller number of high-profile features rather than constant genre-hopping collaboration, which is a completely different (and very successful) strategy, just not one that shows up as "highly connected" in a graph like this one.

Why this matters mid-puzzle

If your daily challenge involves a country artist and you're stuck, Jelly Roll and HARDY are disproportionately useful names to route through, since both bridge into hip-hop, rock, and pop in ways most of their country peers don't. It's the same logic behind the most connected artists overall: connection count matters more than fame when you're trying to shave moves off your score.

All numbers pulled straight from the graph behind today's puzzle, same as always.
